Did you know we have several owl species here in Southern Massachusetts? We need to watch out for our feathery friends because once the winter darkness sets in, it can be a more risky time for owls. Since the sun sets earlier, that means owls are out hunting earlier...and that can coincide with rush hour traffic! CEO of New England Wildlife Centers, Zak Mertz, explained to us how they see an uptick in injured owls being brought to their wildlife hospital and some helpful tips us humans can utilize to keep these beautiful birds safe! Check out the story here and also listen to our full interview below.
New England Wildlife Centers has their open house coming up in December and you don't want to miss it! Zak talks all about it in the interview as well:

We can always rely on Dr. John Hayes Jr., MD to calm our nerves and gives us the best health tips. This week on his segment, Living and Practicing by Design, the Doctor prescribed us permission to say NO to overloading ourselves this holiday season.
You see, stress is heightened this time of year. Financially, emotionally, physically - the holidays can really load the weight upon our shoulders. If you feel like you need some rest and the family party is beckoning you...don't add to the stress and just sit one out...it's okay, Dr. John Hayes said so! Listen in as we discuss this topic and you can read the blog post from Dr. John Hayes here.
